Casa Da Veiga

Absolutely perfect!!!

We loved staying at Casa da Veiga. The room was very good, the service was lovely, and the bathroom was kept clean. They made the bed every day, too. Breakfast was decent, and the woman who looks after the place was incredibly kind and attentive. It's right by the village of Gerês, with easy routes in every direction. We'd definitely stay again when we come back to visit Gerês.

The room was spacious, clean and pleasant, with air conditioning and a fridge. Breakfast was nice, and the woman in charge of the accommodation was very helpful. The rest of our stay was great, which makes what happened when we arrived all the more disappointing. I hadn't noticed the Booking check-in cut-off when I reserved, so we got there quite late. A woman I think was the person in charge's daughter greeted us very badly. I politely apologized for arriving late, but she kept speaking harshly and making veiled threats. For a while, we weren't even sure whether they'd let us in. She spoke to us as if we were criminals. We'd paid, and I'd already apologized, so treating customers that way was completely unacceptable. It left all of us very uncomfortable. Nobody representing Casa da Veiga ever apologized. Without that first incident, this could have been an excellent stay, since everything else was so good. It's a shame the daughter's unacceptable behavior overshadowed the hard work of the woman who runs the accommodation. Update: In reply to my honest review, the daughter said she didn't want us as guests again. Constructive criticism can help a place improve, but apparently she isn't humble enough to read what needs fixing. Because of her unacceptable attitude, I'm lowering this rating from 2 to 3.

The mountain views were lovely, and breakfast was delicious with plenty to choose from. The rooms are spacious, and Sabrina and Estella gave us five-star service. I'd definitely come back on my next vacation.
