Hilton Vilamoura As Cascatas Golf Resort & Spa

The spa was a real treat. My wife and I went twice, and it was such a lovely way to spend our first holiday alone together in a couple of years. I also enjoyed having both a warm and a cold pool. I like cold pools, so I was happy with that one, while my wife preferred the warm one. The gym was lovely too. We spent the most time at Rubi bar, with several lunches and one dinner. The daytime and evening staff were both welcoming, attentive, and brilliant, and the food hit the spot. I think we tried nearly everything on the menu. Cilantro was an absolute delight as well. I’ve been to plenty of chain hotels that promise fine dining and don’t deliver, but the food and service at Cilantro were unforgettable. At check-in, Andre and the lovely team surprised us with a room upgrade. The balcony looked out over the golf course, and as an avid golfer I loved sitting there in the morning, wishing I was out playing. The shuttle bus was easy to use, and other guests had only nice things to say about it. A taxi to the Marina is 4 euros, with plenty of other food and drink options there. Thank you for making this such a relaxing break for my wife and me. The hotel was amazing, and I’m looking forward to coming back.

We stayed just before Christmas in December, and the pool view room was spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. The staff worked hard to handle the busy periods and keep everyone happy. We also tried the thermal areas at the onsite Seven Spa, which are well worth a visit. There’s an extra charge for guests to use facilities such as the sauna and Turkish bath, unless you’re a Hilton Honours Gold or Diamond member. The gym is well equipped and works for a range of workouts. A very nice stay.

The room was nice and the location was perfect, but the staff service, especially the reception manager’s attitude and lack of consideration, was appalling. We had booked four rooms with bed and breakfast, paid for together on one card, and had proof that breakfast was included. At check-in, though, we were told only two rooms came with breakfast. We spent 30 minutes disputing the mistake with reception. The manager was very rude and couldn’t accept that the hotel had made an administrative error. She even admitted they’d made a mistake, but still charged us for breakfast we had already technically paid for. She told us, “make a complaint if you’re not happy, I’d like you to”. This should have been caught and sorted straight away. The hotel was nice and the rooms were tidy, but the staff’s attitude and service were appalling.

Raquel at reception really made our stay. She was incredibly helpful, super friendly, and always went the extra mile. The service was outstanding, especially hers. The hotel has a wonderful spa, great recreation options, and access to a lovely beach club. Shuttle buses run regularly to the beach and marina, which is very convenient. It’s recently renovated and has its own golf course, not far from the city center and marina. The surroundings are stunning and make for a really relaxing atmosphere. A fantastic stay.
