The restaurant was advertised as open on Hotels.com, but it was closed. The receptionist didn't speak a word of English. As for the hotel itself, it's very basic.

A great hotel in Penalva. The staff were wonderful, friendly, and very flexible.

There was no hot water and the air conditioning was broken. I don't recommend this hotel.

The bathroom drain backed up and water spread across the whole floor. When I went downstairs at 9:20, the unfriendly staff told me breakfast was already finished and said I'd have to go to a café 500 meters away if I wanted to eat. The hotel doesn't even have a coffee machine for guests. What a disgrace.

The room was unbearably hot in the middle of August. There was no air conditioning, the insulation was poor, and the tiny fan they gave us after we asked for help wasn't much use. The response was just, “We'll see later.” We spent two nights here while passing through, and I've rarely had such an awful stay. There wasn't a receptionist when we arrived, so we had to call on our phones. We were handed a key card with no explanation. The mattress and pillow were rock hard, there were very few power outlets, and the TV was ancient. I don't recommend this hotel at all. Avoid it at all costs!
