We booked through Odisseias, with a voucher for Hotel Katekero II, part of the complex. Instead of a hotel room, we were given a studio, which could have been great if it hadn’t been so run down. The bed needed maintenance and the mattress was extremely uncomfortable. The blackout curtains still let in so much light that it was bright inside before 8 a.m. There were hairs in the bathtub, the bathroom mirror light was broken, parts were falling off the oven, and belongings from other guests had been left there. The worst part was raising these problems with the staff. They said they already knew about everything and even had a list, but couldn’t do anything. There were no other rooms available, and apparently the apartment we were given was about to be rented out long term. In other words, they weren’t going to fix any of it. If a place isn’t fit to host people, don’t rent it out.

The place was clean and well kept, in a good spot for getting around town and reaching restaurants, and the service was exceptional. But be careful when booking: reservations through the app are safer than by phone, and you should spell out exactly what you need. If you need a kitchen, make sure you confirm it, because you could book an apartment and still not get one in your “room.” Katekero and the apartments are treated as the same thing, so clarify the difference before you reserve to avoid disappointment. Otherwise, things were okay. Hope this helps anyone choosing a room or apartment.

Breakfast was good and offered a variety of choices. The apartment was spacious and looked clean, though it smelled dirty when I walked in. The sofa bed was broken and unusable, so one of us had to sleep on the floor.

The staff were really friendly, and the hotel was great value, with impeccable cleanliness and all the other services working well. It’s beside the port for the Berlengas Islands and an area full of bars and restaurants. Beaches, Dino Park, Óbidos, Lisbon, Sintra, and other places are easy to reach from there.
