We were a bit unsure about when to get up and be ready at the start, since the schedule wasn’t explained clearly. Other surfers at the lodge filled us in: they usually start loading boards at 9am, have a two-hour lesson from 10am, and pick everyone up from the beach around 3:30 or 4. That was the only thing I could see improving. Claire and Duncan were really helpful and accommodated us when we wanted to change a few things around. Dane and Ricardo were helpful and knowledgeable too. As complete beginners, we had a fantastic trip. We made great memories, met lots of good friends, had barbecues, picked up some useful surfing tips, and just had a lovely stay with no other complaints. I’d definitely return to the lodge, and if you want a friendly place to stay, I say go for it 🏄♀️

The bed could be bigger and less soft, and a fan would be nice since they cost so little. Apart from that, the place was clean and well organized, with a nice atmosphere and very good people. Thanks, team. Good vibes and all the best!

We spent a week at Lodge 1 and had such a good time. Duncan and Dane are brilliant teachers who give each surfer plenty of attention. A relaxed place to meet lovely people and get better at surfing. I'd absolutely recommend it.

You can tell Claire and Duncan put real passion into hosting. They know the area well and are always happy to help with local advice. The family feel is warm, and I met some great people, including plenty who'd come back more than once. The lodge can arrange board and wetsuit rentals, daily van rides to the beach, and a camp set up there for the day. Lessons are available with Duncan and their son Dane, who's both a great instructor and a lovely person. I hope to join the repeat visitors soon. Highly recommend staying here.

The lodge works just as well for families as it does for solo travelers, and the hosts, Duncan and Claire, are fantastic at communicating. The coaches can help you learn whether you're already experienced or just starting out. I'd give the place more than five stars if I could.
