The Wave Baleal

The apartment was very clean, and the beds were comfortable. It has the basics for a comfortable stay, though it could use a few improvements, like oiled door handles, a clothes rack, and more lamps in the living room. Its location is fabulous, just a few meters from the beach, with a partial sea view. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and breakfast was very good. We also took surf lessons with Federiko, which was a great experience.

Adolfo, the young host, took care of everything around the clock. He made breakfast in the morning on the terrace with an ocean view, and prepared surfboards for rent on site. The place is right on the beach, ideal for surfing and relaxing, and there are several nice bars and restaurants around beautiful Baleal Beach Island. We had a perfect stay and can’t wait to come back.

The room we were given was completely unacceptable, even if it had been right on the beach with a sea view. Instead, we were offered a budget room in another house for the same price, looking out over inland water, a large parking lot, and eight big garbage bins used by nearby hotels and restaurants. It was furnished with bulky waste, and the walls were plywood. The bathroom was so cramped you could brush your teeth over the sink while showering. The Wave had offered us a room we booked last year for €80, advertised on the website at €70, but wanted €100 this year. We accepted because of the accommodation’s special location. The original room had two 1m beds, a rickety table and chair, and an old closet; the bathroom was completely exposed and just as bare. I can tolerate basic comfort for a nice location, though €100 seemed a bit steep. We had to find somewhere else that same day.

Check the prices, but this is one of the places that accepts dogs. The view was amazing, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and breakfast outside our room was amazing too.
