I ended up staying longer than the single night I’d planned, since the January weather stopped me from seeing everything I’d hoped to. That gave me time to visit Pulo do Lobo and the abandoned mines in Sao Domingos. The hotel sits in the historic square by the Church of Santa Luzia, high on a hill. From a second-floor room facing north, with a balcony, you can look out over the whole town. The building has plenty of historic character, and the friendly staff gave me a smile and useful advice from my first hello to my last goodbye. It felt like a family-run place. When my rental motorcycle broke down as I was getting ready to leave, I had to sort things out with the rental company. They spoke English on the phone at first, but the person sent for the bike and the taxi driver spoke little English, just as I spoke little Portuguese. The hotel staff stepped in with phone translation and advice about handling the rental and recovery arrangements. That topped off an already great stay. Thank you again!

I came across this hotel while heading out to explore some genuinely rural parts of Portugal. The staff were lovely, the prices were great, and I really enjoyed staying here. My room looked out over the town, and the atmosphere was hard to beat. I can't recommend it enough. Thanks for making me feel so welcome!

This is a charming little hotel, and you can see how much care the owner has put into every corner. Each room has its own theme. Breakfast runs from 7:30 to 10:30 and has what you need, though the baguettes and croissants are gone by around 9:30. Eggs cost extra. All in all, I liked it.

The staff are friendly and the location is good. I had trouble sleeping because the doors are thin and I'm very sensitive to noise, though I expect most guests won't mind. Still, I can recommend the hotel.
