The Vintage House - Douro

The gardens are gorgeous, and the hotel sits in the heart of Douro, close to many wineries. There are also good restaurant and bar/snack options right at the hotel. We brought our baby, and the staff were welcoming and helpful, making sure a high chair was available at every meal.

I went there just for a celebration lunch, and the meal was delicious, gourmet, and luxurious. The place is full of history, with decorations to match, and everyone was warm and friendly. The entrance is immediately to the right after the train tracks. For that level of quality, the price felt quite affordable. I can't recommend it enough.

The walk along the dock is a must, especially early in the morning or at sunset, and the location puts you near wine tours and river activities. The Vintage House Hotel sits right by the river on peaceful, beautiful grounds, almost like a postcard. It's exceptionally well organized, and the friendly, attentive, professional staff made it easy to relax. Our immaculate room was very comfortable, and the whole place felt calm, clean, and thoughtfully run. Breakfast at Salão do Rio, inside the Vintage House Hotel, was another highlight. We ate there twice, and both meals were fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and consistently satisfying. Service was impeccable without being fussy, and the strong coffee really woke you up. It delivered both times, which says a lot. Highly recommended for a Douro Valley visit if you want comfort, scenery, and easy access to the region's highlights.

For a weekend in Pinhão, the hotel's location is perfect. The rooms are a little dated, but still charming, clean, and comfortable. The hallways have an amazing scent; I wish I knew what it was. Breakfast was fine, nothing special, but enough. The service was disappointing overall. I didn't meet a single staff member who seemed to care about how my stay was going. If that matters to you, keep it in mind. For me, it wasn't a dealbreaker since location, comfort, and cleanliness matter more.
