The room was a beautiful renovation in a heritage building, with a skylight and a bug net on the window. I didn’t run into the issues others mentioned with flaws, lighting, noise, or mosquitoes. Maybe the guests were just being mindful about noise while I was there. It made for a comfortable, home-like layover, and everything in town was an easy walk away. This guesthouse has lots of character and was extremely clean. I liked the shared kitchen and wish I’d had more time to use it, especially with all the local markets around. There are also plenty of nearby restaurants where you can enjoy local food. On arrival, I was a little confused, then realized you need to get in touch ahead of time to receive access through the lockbox, where you can leave your things if you arrive early. Communication through Google and WhatsApp was flawless after that, and Elisabete, Jason, Dina and Thiago were a lovely team. I think they upgraded my room too, which was very thoughtful.

Breakfast arrived in cute little baskets left at the door, and the place is an easy walk from shops, restaurants, and the waterfront. It was a great stay. Check-in starts at 3 pm, and there isn't a desk or anyone there beforehand, so watch for the email with instructions about arrival, departure, shared spaces, and parking. If it doesn't come, contact them. The entrance is the black door marked #19.

It's well placed in the city, but you get what you pay for. Don't expect extra service.

The bed was really comfortable, though the stairs are a bit steep and the bathroom fan in room 6 was pretty noisy. The huge kitchen has almost anything you might need, which is handy if you're traveling on a budget and want to cook your own meals. There's also a restroom on the second floor where you can relax.
