Pe Direito

I was unsure about staying here because some reviews mentioned noise, but I slept well and wasn’t bothered, even during a major town festivity in Ponta Delgada. I stayed at Pe Direito for a week in July 2025 and had a great time. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful, and I made friends to go explore with. The beds are comfortable and have individual lights, which came in handy early in the morning and late at night. The showers were very clean and never seemed too busy. The living room and kitchen were great places to relax, and there’s a back terrace for smokers. I’d recommend it 100%.

The female dorm was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the shower was great. Staff were lovely too. But for nearly the whole 20 hours between my 3pm check-in and check-out, a distressed little dog kept barking and screeching outside our window. I realize it may have belonged to a neighbour and wasn’t the hostel’s fault, but it completely ruined any chance of peace in the room.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the common room kitchen had free espresso, local tea, and filtered cold water. Those saved us quite a bit over our four-night stay. I don’t usually stay in hostels, but with few options in our preferred area and price range, we chose the private room with its own bathroom and shower. It turned out great, and I’d highly recommend it.

The hosts were easygoing and went out of their way to accommodate us. Everything was kept clean, and there was a nice kitchen and a relaxing place to spend time. Highly recommend!
