Hotel Talisman

The breakfasts and restaurant meals were both very good, and our clean, well-appointed room had a small balcony. It’s a superb boutique hotel right in the town center. The rooftop gym and infinity pool were excellent, with lovely views over the city and harbor. Secure parking costs 6 Euros a day. We’d absolutely stay here again.

The food was the biggest let-down during our week here. For a hotel described as four-star, we expected some rotation, but we had basically the same dish four times, then another time as a pork version. There wasn’t much variety, and the “steaks” were like a shoe sole. Often it seemed like leftovers were reused in the next day’s dishes, such as fish one day and that same fish in lasagna the next. Breakfast didn’t offer much variety either. Sometimes the baked beans were in a bigger bowl, and the bacon was pretty nice, but having bacon every day for a whole week was too much for someone who eats it maybe once every two years. The restaurant staff were nice, but please add some variety. At reception, staff were always kind and helpful, though some were more useful than others for advice. One person might just give you the local taxi number, while another would help organize the whole trip. Thanks again for the great service from those who did. Housekeeping usually did a good job, and requests to clean later were no problem. Once, towels weren’t changed even though we asked, but that may have been an honest mistake. We had an older room that wasn’t the cleanest, though it was okay overall. The main problem was dampness throughout. Even the sheets felt damp when we lay on the rather small bed, so we had to use the AC.

Those 12 days felt like heaven. The friendly staff, clean hotel, and good food at Palm Terrace made the whole stay a pleasure. We were treated like royalty, and we’ll definitely come back in the summer. The Christmas and New Year’s lights and decorations were breathtaking. Walking around downtown Ponta Delgada at night is a must. Having Space Rent a Car next door was also convenient for exploring the island, and I recommend it 👌 💯 🇵🇹 ❤️ Azores 🐦 🐓 👍

The restaurant food was amazing, and the tidy, comfortable rooms made this a nice place to stay. It’s a beautiful hotel in the center of Ponta delgada, within easy walking distance of restaurants and bars. Most of the staff were nice, though not all of them. The pool looks different from the website pictures, but it’s still a nice rooftop pool with a good view. For cocktails, you have to go to the pier. I’d definitely stay here again if I visit Sao Miguel.
