Hotel Fonte Velha

The room was clean and the hotel feels luxurious, with a lift, lots of pillow options, and free gated parking. Reception is open around the clock, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There’s a bar and outdoor seating by the river, and they had a great crib for my baby. Breakfast costs 10€ per person. The mattress was thin and uncomfortable, and the toilet paper was so bad it felt like you might as well use your hands. Also, check before taking anything from the fridge, the water bottles aren’t complimentary.

Breakfast was generous, with pretty much anything you could want, and the staff were really friendly. We also liked how close the hotel is to shops and good restaurants. The rooms were clean and had comfortable beds, and there’s a quiet little courtyard that’s great for relaxing.

We had a spacious, spotless room with towel robes, lighting you can adjust for the mood, and a speaker above the bed. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and breakfast was nice and reasonably priced, with the option to sit outside in a spectacular setting. It felt like a five-star stay. Getting here may be a little tricky, but I thought it was well worth it. I can picture this as a peaceful place to disconnect, a romantic getaway, or even a beautiful wedding venue.

For a stay in the mid-Geres area, this is easily the best town accommodation I’ve found. The rooms are large and comfortable, and the breakfast is great. The garden has a fantastic river view, and the staff were attentive and very useful. If you can, try one of the superb rooms facing the river.
