The rooms were excellent, and the staff were lovely, always ready to help. After all that rain, I really could have used a hair dryer, but otherwise the stay was superb.

The restored castle and chapel keep their original character and give the place an iconic feel. Having the hotel surrounded by vineyards makes it special, and since it’s a recent hotel, the facilities are in excellent condition. The indoor pool could be warmer for a relaxed swim. I mentioned that to the staff, and the water felt a little more comfortable the next day. It would be good to aim for a temperature suited to unwinding, since the pool isn’t big enough for serious swimming. The hydromassage showers are operated manually, and I saw guests leave them running as they moved to the sauna or Turkish bath. A timer or clearer signs could help avoid that waste. The hotel is split between the historic restaurant area and the rooms and other services, with an outdoor path between them. That’s not ideal in rainy weather. Loaner umbrellas at the entrances and exits would make the walk easier.
