Pestana Viking Ocean Suites

The recently reopened spa was a highlight for me. The service was fantastic, and my massage was professional, therapeutic, and relaxing. The staff were great too, and the place is clean and well managed in a beautiful location. Some rooms and appliances feel dated, and a few things need attention, like the rust on the room fridge. It may be due to the very humid area, but overall the stay was comfortable.

We used the hotel as a base for driving along the coast, since it sits between Sagres and Faro. Benagil caves, for example, are under a 20-minute drive away. We were there for a week in February, when it was about 12 to 17 degrees. We chose this place for its indoor pool, which mattered with a child when it was too cold for the outdoor pool. The outdoor pool was still maintained daily for swimming. We only had the buffet breakfast, which worked fine and had plenty of options. The dinner theme changes each day, but we went to local restaurants instead.

Louisa and the other front desk and restaurant staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. Louisa knows her work well and was able to sort out what we needed during our six-night stay. Breakfast had a good selection and came quickly, and the facilities were good. We loved the Algarve, and the local sights were beautiful. It was easy to get to Lagos, Sarges, Portimão, and Albufeira. The food and drinks downstairs at the bar and restaurant were disappointing. We stayed from 31/12/25, and the bar could use more lighting, music, and a disco ball to improve the atmosphere. I also fell in the shower on our final night and hit my head on the wall. A rubber mat might help.

I had the calm, relaxed break I was looking for. The service was very friendly, breakfast was good, and I used the spa and massage regularly. Everything you need is within walking distance, with beautiful beaches nearby and coastal hikes that are a must. I also enjoyed the view from my window. The renovation feels dated, though it was clean by my experience in Portugal.
