We had parking for our hired car, and there was also on-street parking available. The pool and pool table were enjoyable, and both breakfast and lunch were very tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. We spent three nights at Hotel Luar on a visit to Portimão from Northern Ireland. My room’s balcony was fantastic, with a lovely sea view, and the hotel felt safe. It’s right beside the beach, in an excellent location. A very enjoyable stay.
The beaches are stunning, though there are a lot of steps to manage. We liked being just off the main strip, so we got the best of both worlds, and everything was clean. The interior is a little dated, but it didn’t affect our stay. Breakfast was pretty standard and could use more variety, according to my husband. Fab location.
The bar staff make incredible cocktails, and Maria, the masseuse, is such a warm, kind soul. She gave us the best massages we’ve ever had. We had a small issue with one of our rooms one night, but it was sorted within minutes. Everyone on staff is always friendly and helpful. We love the location, right by the beach and an easy walk from great restaurants. This was our third year staying here, and we love it more each time. Already looking forward to next year!
The TV in our room didn’t work. I told the receptionist, but it wasn’t fixed. The room was clean and nice, though the decor was a bit outdated. It was cleaned daily, and they left fresh towels even though the notice said towels were changed every three days, so that was a plus. Breakfast was a bit cold. It’s warm if you go before 7am, but gets colder later. No kettle or microwave in the room, which is a downside. For a 3* place, it’s good.
We’ve just come back from our sixth visit, after a fantastic 10 days. The pool and bar area are great, and the location is perfect. Staff across every department are excellent, and it’s always nice seeing familiar faces each year. We’re already booking for next year and hoping to meet up with new friends.
