Tarik Apartment

We ended up getting the two rooms we had booked without changing any names or paying extra, thanks to the young man at reception. Before that, though, a female receptionist refused to let me replace one of the three guests who couldn't come, saying one room would be cancelled or offering to put all three of us, including the replacement, in one room for another £140. What nonsense. She should find another line of work. We also had to walk 15 minutes to check in, and the hotel conditions were terrible. They required a €200 room deposit too. A bad experience.

The flat is close to the beach and towels were provided, so it works for a short visit if you mainly need somewhere to sleep. I wouldn't choose it for a longer stay or if you want to cook. It wasn't filthy, but the cleaning was incomplete: lots of dust and sand underfoot. The shower curtain should be replaced, or a glass or plastic door would be better, since water gets everywhere. The shower head could sit higher, and a shelf for soap and shampoo would help. Please make it clear to guests that key collection is a 30-minute walk away and the €200 deposit has to be paid in advance. I'm not sure I'd recommend it or return.

We found cockroaches in the apartment, reported them, and were told they'd kill them, but nobody got back to us. The place was disgusting and so dirty that we had to ask for it to be cleaned. On our first day they also said the air conditioning didn't work, and that the shower had been sealed. Workers spent hours in our room, and we couldn't shower. It wasn't a cheap stay, so I was extremely disappointed. It wasn't worth it at all.

I had a great stay, especially for the price. The apartment is right by the beach, restaurants, and nightlife, and had a basic kitchen with all the pots, pans, and utensils I needed. There was a broom and mop, and enough room to do yoga. Everyone was friendly. Security even helped charge my dead phone while I was trying to work out the keys. One thing to know: go to Plaza Real first to check in and collect the keys. The booking company hadn't told me, and I was glad other reviewers had warned me. With only a backpack it was fine, but I would've been much more annoyed with lots of luggage.
