B The Guest Downtown

For my first visit to Porto and Portugal, B the Guest was such a good choice. The room felt clean and safe, and the location was right in the heart of the city, making it easy to head out for late-night gelato or explore on foot. The staff were welcoming and shared several suggestions for things to see and eat. I highly recommend B the Guest!

Hello. Our stay at your guesthouse was perfect, and we want to congratulate all the staff. The women in the kitchen were so kind. They prepared a Christmas meal for us when they should have been at home with their families. Thanks so much for everything. The Portuguese welcome is real.

The staff made our stay especially nice. Everyone was so kind, friendly, helpful, and welcoming, and we felt well taken care of the whole time. The hotel's location was perfect, close to everything and great for exploring Porto. The facilities were very good, and everything was clean and comfortable. The price felt extremely reasonable for the quality. Breakfast had a nice variety, and the atmosphere throughout the hotel was pleasant. We'd absolutely stay again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Porto.

We cancelled after being told the room we'd booked wasn't available. We had reserved weeks in advance, filtering on booking.com for two people and two beds. The economy room description clearly said one single bed and one large double bed, with no mention of contacting the hotel first. When we arrived, the man said we'd been “upgraded,” but it turned out they'd oversold that room type. We said one double bed wouldn't work and asked for the room we booked. They offered another room for €75 for the night, or to put another bed in one of the double rooms. We were fine waiting for that, but then he said there'd be an extra €20 charge to add the bed. At that point I was done and cancelled. The man was quite rude and blamed me for the error, even though I'd booked the right room. He became unprofessional by the end, though they did refund us. At 5:30pm we had to find somewhere else to stay. Think twice before booking here. We ended up having a lovely stay at Jardim da Batalha Boutique Hotel by Shiadu instead, and I'd highly recommend it over B the Guest.
