Bartolomeu Beach Apartments

Right on the ocean front, and a wonderful place to stay. The hosts were very warm and friendly.

We really enjoyed our stay. The ocean view is stunning, and the host welcomed us warmly and kindly, then explained everything in detail. The room was clean and comfortable, though there were signs of wear, and the kitchen had everything we needed. There’s a grocery store and restaurants nearby. Just be aware it’s noisy: the ocean makes a lot of sound, and the road runs right below the balcony, so it may not suit you if you need quiet to sleep. I recommend it.

Once you see the view, it’s breathtaking. The entrance is very dark and doesn’t feel especially inviting at first. Inside, I found everything I needed, including a washing machine and dryer. The furnishings are somewhat dated but good quality, and the sound of the waves mostly covers the traffic. It’s the most wonderful place I’ve visited in a long time.

The sea view is beautiful, but the balcony is far from relaxing during the day with hundreds of cars passing by. There’s no parking, and the lot 60 meters away is usually full. The chairs beside the bed and the bathroom radiator were rusty, which made a poor first impression. The apartment smelled strongly of cheap cleaning products, more unpleasant than fresh. The small kitchen wouldn’t suit a stay longer than two days. There was a notice on the sideboard claiming a 9.xxx rating on Booking.com, which I think is fake and untrue. After a few days, we moved about 1 km north of town to a more pleasant, higher-quality apartment with better value, parking, and less noise outside.
