You can reach the waterfront promenade and Luis I Bridge with a short walk, and the location is very central, so most places are easy to get to on foot. The service was friendly, and it's family-run. Our large loft had a big bed, a sofa bed, a table with four chairs, a roomy bathroom, and a well-equipped, practical kitchen. There was also a small breakfast basket. The double-glazed windows open onto the parallel street behind, and the upstairs apartment's ceiling is a little thin. With the windows open, traffic from the nearby tunnel makes the back room very noisy from afternoon into late evening. Teenagers show off their modified vehicles, especially motorcycles, and people can be loud in the tunnel. Entry is through the Santo de Casa shop, using a code and key. From the airport, a taxi costs around €30-35. Another option is the metro to Bento, then a pleasant downhill walk through the pedestrian area Rue das Flores, turning left at the end and crossing to Rd. Sao Joan.

The outside doesn't give much away, but inside it's fantastic. Our place was a very clean, well-equipped, spacious apartment in the middle of Ribeira, and they even carried our bags up to the third floor. There isn't a lift. We'd happily stay here again next time we're in Porto.
