We paid an extra €15 per person to use the spa, but it was disappointing. The sauna was out of service, and nobody told us in advance or offered a refund. The spa water felt cooler than bathwater. Staff said regulations capped it at 30°C, though I doubt it was even 28°C. We’re used to Japanese spas that are usually around 40°C. The hotel itself is charming, a short walk from São Bento Railway station, on a street with small shops and lovely little restaurants. Only delivery vans use the street, so taxis may leave you at a nearby intersection. Our room was spacious and very clean. The one issue there was a very high step into the shower and tub, with no grab bars, and the tub base sloped a little and was slippery.

The room had a boutique feel, neat, new, and nice, and the doors seemed secure enough for a zombie apocalypse. The hotel is right in the heart of Porto, with the river and restaurants about a 3-7 minute walk away. The two staff members who handled our check-in and check-out were both friendly, smiling, and full of information about the city. Amazing stay, especially for the price.

The rooms were lovely, and breakfast was really good. We also had a large terrace with a view over Porto. Every staff member was kind, and they even brought our bags up to the room while we were out. A very nice hotel in the historic center.

The hotel has a fascinating historic interior, with a garden inside and a terrace looking across the city. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms are roomy, with large updated bathrooms. Breakfast was fine, though nothing memorable. One thing to know: the two-person rooms are made by closing a connecting door between parts of a larger apartment, so sound carries easily between them. It's right in the city center, and I'd recommend staying here.
