The breakfast was amazing and typically Portuguese, with bread, cheese, ham, cereal, coffee, tea, and juice. There’s a shared kitchen with everything you need, a living room with really comfy couches and a TV, and water and tea whenever you want. Three shared bathrooms, too. The house is beautiful, with lovely rooms and authentic, detailed interiors, and it was super clean. The host was so kind and supportive, with 24/7 help. It’s just a minute from the bus and metro, and only three or four stops from the city center. Such a lovely stay, we’ll be back soon!
The owner’s response has made this situation even clearer to me. Rather than deal with the fact that I was refused check-in after paying in full, she has used my Google review history to attack me personally. She counts my one-star reviews, but did she look at the four- and five-star ones, especially for hotels where I was treated respectfully? Or compare my critical reviews with similar complaints from other guests? She wasn’t there for those experiences, so how can she judge them? At check-in, she commented on my smile, questioned whether I was being genuine, and deliberately kept me waiting. In her reply, she judged my appearance instead of addressing the complaint. For someone running a professional establishment, that’s an inappropriate way to treat a guest. If she wants outside opinions, I could provide my exes’ numbers too. The personal attacks, deflection, and intimidation echo what happened in person. I’ll leave it to future readers to consider both the reviews and the owner’s responses. Her replies say a lot about how she handles criticism, and seem to do plenty of damage to her own reputation. As for my stay, I arrived with a fully paid reservation and the documents I’d provided, but was refused check-in without a valid reason. The host made personal remarks and told me to leave. I was alone, carrying luggage, with an injured knee, in a city I didn’t know. I had to urgently pay for another hotel and was treated without dignity or respect. No guest should have to go through that. I’m pursuing the matter with Booking.com and consumer protection channels so it doesn’t happen to someone else.
Breakfast was a real highlight, and we’d definitely recommend it. The hosts were so friendly and helpful, going out of their way to make the stay feel special. The place itself is clean and beautiful, with a tasteful classical look. It’s right beside the metro, in a peaceful neighbourhood, and there are plenty of good restaurants, bars, and cafés just a short walk away. We had a lovely stay.
The house is so well cared for, from the beautiful furniture to how tidy and clean everything is. The host was absolutely lovely and kind, and the attention to detail really shows. Breakfast was great value, with a generous spread. Highly recommend! It’s also right by the metro station from the airport, with lots of shops and supermarkets nearby. Six stars if I could!
The breakfast was the best I’ve had at a hostel or hotel, and the kitchen is well equipped if you’d rather cook for yourself in Porto. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. It’s also handy for the metro, which goes straight into town. The hostel was beautifully decorated and very clean. Thanks so much for a lovely stay, I highly recommend it.
