Douro Apartments - São Miguel

The pool is very small and reached through the shared ground floor areas, so keep that in mind if it’s the reason you’re booking. We stayed in a rear studio on the second floor. Its balcony was lovely, though not private. The studio was clean and well equipped, with a comfortable bed, and the view was marvellous. The location felt central but quiet. Staff were welcoming and dealt with issues promptly. We didn’t try the restaurant downstairs.

We felt very well looked after here. The apartment was spotless and had everything we needed, and it was cleaned daily with fresh towels. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. At the poolside bar, try the sangria cocktail if you like. It wasn’t what I expected, but it was delicious. The pool has beautiful city views, and the main part of town is within walking distance. This stay made our holiday special, and I’d recommend it.

We found it easy to walk to the main sights from this guest house in Porto’s old town, while still being away from the tourist center. It’s right by a great city viewpoint, and the pool area looks out over the rooftops and bridge. The rooms were clean and had a full kitchenette, and the lobby was a comfortable place to work. Staff were helpful with restaurant and activity ideas. The walls are a bit thin, though I suspect that’s common in these older buildings. I’d highly recommend staying here.

That amazing VIEW was the main reason we booked, and it really delivered. The rooms were quiet, as was the neighborhood when we visited at the end of March. My parents, aged 84 and 70, and I stayed on the second floor. There’s no elevator, but that was totally fine for us. I’ve seen people say the beds weren’t soft enough, but I found them just right. Fresh fruit came with a great breakfast delivered to our door, the rooms were cleaned daily, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Staff were friendly and attentive. When we asked for an extra blanket, it arrived quickly. There was also welcome port waiting on the table, and the outdoor pool was heated. I’d definitely come back if I visit Porto again. We had a perfect vacation here!
