For the price, this was excellent value. The place was cheap, clean, tidy, and a bit quirky. It’s a B&B, and breakfast was pretty standard, with all-you-can-eat meats, fruit, yogurt, and similar items. The room was spacious and classy, with a large double bed and tall window shutters. The bathroom was an unusual open-roof box, but it worked. It’s right by the town center, so a front-facing room may not be quiet.

Breakfast was very good, and the B&B also has a garden. We stayed in the top-floor suite, which was lovely. Double doors with windows opened onto a terrace with breathtaking views of Porto. Everything was perfectly clean, the bed was comfortable, and it was quiet enough to rest. The entire top floor was ours, though the bathroom was outside the room. Since it’s a little way off, a mirror in the room would be useful for getting ready. There’s no TV.

The view from our top-floor balcony over the river was amazing, and the location works well if you’re happy to walk. But the advertised two-bedroom suite wasn’t self-contained, so other guests might have been able to access the area. We had to keep the bedroom locked, and the toilet was out in the corridor, which wasn’t ideal. The staff weren’t friendly, and breakfast was a real disappointment.

I’m already looking forward to coming back. The rooms are cosy, check-in is easy, and breakfast is more than okay. You can tell the staff care about the B&B and want guests to have a good stay. I also like that the area is close to the center without being in the crowds. There’s a nice bar on the street corner with live music.

My daughter got a trip to Porto as a birthday gift, but our flight was canceled because of a strike. Since the strike was beyond the airline’s control, we aren’t entitled to compensation from them. The hotel wouldn’t let us come a few days later or refund any of the money. It’s such a shame. As a single mom, I do my best, and I lost all the money because they weren’t a little flexible. A sad mom.
