Easy Host Porto

I spent nearly two months at Easy Host Porto and felt cared for, supported and comfortable the whole time. Miriam 💛 was so kind, and thanks as well to Vitor and the EH team. The place is kept impeccably clean and orderly, and quiet hours are enforced. The kitchen has everything you need. It's easy to reach from the airport, with two big supermarkets very close by. There's also a fruit shop on the ground floor with fresh fruit 🍑

The kitchen was the hostel's social hub, with people chatting and a lively, welcoming feel that I don't find in many hostels now. I met lots of nice people, and everyone was generally friendly. I stayed three nights, from 20 to 23 February 2026. There are just two toilets, and both are in the same room as the shower enclosure, so I had to wait to use one in the mornings and evenings. The kitchen and toilets were generally clean, with staff coming in to clean them. Staff aren't there all day, though, so questions have to go through WhatsApp. The person who checked me in was polite and helpful. Shower gel and hair dryers were available in the toilets, and the kitchen had sugar, tea and cooking utensils.

I've enjoyed my stays here and will keep booking whenever I'm in Porto. It's very welcoming, the staff are kind and accommodating, and the place is always clean. The metro station is right next door, with Continente and Lidl supermarkets both close by. Just keep in mind the rooms are mixed and the beds are triple bunks, which may not suit everyone.

UPDATE AFTER THE OWNER'S RESPONSE: I'm dropping this to one star after the passive-aggressive reply, which doesn't really address my complaints. I said clearly that you contacted me through Whatsapp, not email. That's not the issue, it just shows you had more contact information, and you lie. I repeatedly asked your employee or volunteer for check-in information, and they refused to send it. So the claim that you provide fair, nonstop support isn't true. I only got the information while I was aboard the flight to Porto, after 5 pm and several hours past check-in time. Those many angry, directive signs telling guests how to behave say a lot. Please learn some respect, stop blaming guests and focus on providing better quality service. Easy Host Porto is an affordable hostel near central Porto, right by the M24 De Agosto metro line from the airport. I stayed for 2 + 2 nights and came away with mixed feelings. The check-in directions were long and tedious, with different codes for the doors and lockboxes. Before my first arrival, communication was poor: they required the tourist tax to be paid online or by transfer in advance. I believe not allowing cash payment in person is illegal. After I registered, entered all my personal information and paid the tax, they still wouldn't send the check-in instructions. I was at the airport gate waiting for my flight, several hours after official check-in time, and still didn't have the information to get into a hostel I'd already paid for. That's inexcusable. When I returned several days later, I got the same generic messages on Whatsapp, as if the earlier conversation had never happened. They clearly couldn't be bothered to scroll up and check whether we'd already been in touch. Then, after I left, they accused me of not paying the guest tax in person. That shocked me, since I'd repeatedly been told in-person payment wasn't possible and had been made to pay in advance. The hostel is mostly self-service. A few volunteers come in during the morning to clean and handle urgent tasks and messages. For everything else, there are piles of signs and notes telling guests to clean up, be respectful and keep quiet, but that doesn't seem to work well. The bathrooms were often dirty and wet. The kitchen and dining room feel enclosed and unwelcoming. With so few staff around, I didn't feel like spending extra time there, and most travellers seemed to leave as soon as they could to explore Porto. The social atmosphere felt nonexistent. It's a bit disappointing for the price. The staff don't seem to care or communicate well. The central location is handy, about a 10-15 minute walk to the very centre. The bunk beds were decent, with charging ports or curtains, and they let guests leave bags after checkout for free.
