GR Suites

The room was clean and comfortable, with a view of a peaceful garden. The hotel has a good location, working Wi-Fi, and a generous breakfast. It combines a classic hotel atmosphere with local hospitality, and the staff are friendly and do their best to make guests feel at home.

On my latest visit in April 2023, GR Suites came through again. I called at short notice to ask for two rooms with twin beds, and after a brief wait the booking was confirmed. I was excited to bring my family to this lovely place. The hot breakfast has more variety and is better than what I've had at large chain hotels. The staff were just as warm and welcoming, and it felt like coming home. Give this hidden gem a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I found the Guesthouse through a general map search, and I'm glad I did. The price was reasonable, and a hot breakfast was available, which I always look for. They also checked that I was comfortable, asked if I needed anything, and offered to help make the stay better. Being greeted by name and remembered makes a real difference for me. It's in a quiet part of Bonfim, a couple of blocks from the D Line station at Marques. The City Center is an easy walk, maybe 1.5 kilometers, and Alameda Shops are a couple of kilometers in the other direction. That meant I could get around without dealing with the noise, traffic, and crowds in those busier areas. My room was clean, breakfast was ample, and it was easy to relax. I recommend checking it out. I'll choose it again next time I'm in Porto.

A clean, spacious, comfortable stay that was good value. It's a little beyond the main tourist spots, but you can still get there on foot or by metro. The breakfast Svitlana served was delicious, and she was a wonderful hostess. I definitely recommend the place.

The hostess kept in touch before and throughout my stay, answered all my questions, and was always available on WhatsApp, even though we didn't meet. Svetlana, the housekeeper, was wonderful too. They went out of their way to get soya milk for me as a vegan, arrange early breakfasts for flight and tour days, suggest places to eat, and book taxis. Phenomenal hosts. The facilities were clean, tidy, and modern, with a working TV, air conditioning, fast Wi-Fi, and a lovely shower. Breakfast was enough for a short visit, though I might tire of the same options after five days. The center was about a 25-minute walk, and there isn't much nearby, but that worked for us. We used public transport or Uber when we didn't feel like walking back. I'd happily return and recommend it. A few small things could make the stay better: coffee and tea supplies and a fridge in the room would be nice. I felt awkward going to the common room for coffee before everyone else was up, and room 2 had no fridge. The beds are quite hard, which may be fine for most people, but as I'm petite I got some bed sores and would have liked more padding. Individual room safes would also be useful. Other than that, everything was fantastic. Thanks to the team for a great stay!
