Breakfast had a great range of sweet and savory choices, though the selection suits coffee drinkers more than tea drinkers. Parking was a little tight, but manageable if you take care. The rooms and bathroom were clean and well kept. The bathroom has a flat bathtub with a screen, so it works for both a bath and a shower. Staff were kind and helpful, always ready to answer questions. It’s a good base for exploring Porto, with excellent public transport and major expressways close by.

We spent hours trying to get this sorted, but HF Tuela Porto staff wouldn’t honor our reservations and kept sending us back to the agencies. A few friends and I had booked the hotel through different travel sites, including Expedia, and at check-in we were all told our bookings were actually for the cheaper HF Tuela Ala Sul. Our confirmations clearly named HF Tuela Porto. The agencies checked and said the reservations were valid, but the property still refused to accept them and offered no help. This same complaint appears in reviews from years ago and even one posted two weeks before mine, so it looks like management has no plan to fix how the properties are listed on travel portals. HF seems to benefit by taking bookings at the higher rate, then switching guests to the cheaper property at check-in. If you stay here, booking the cheaper HF Tuela Ala Sul directly may avoid the problem. Otherwise, I’d steer clear because of the misleading practice and the refusal to resolve it. Anyone affected should file a complaint with Livro de Reclamações so HF is held responsible and future guests are protected.

We had a lovely stay for three or four nights. The room was spotless, the bed was really comfortable, and the balcony was a great size. Staff were so kind and accommodating, thank you! It’s about a 20-minute walk from the city, which was fine for us, but Ubers cost around €4 to the centre, so we ended up using them a lot. Definitely recommend.

We got good value here. The rooms had plenty of space, and the cleaning staff did an excellent job. Staff were friendly when we needed them. It isn’t right in the middle of things, but we enjoyed walking during the day and found a local coffee place where more locals than tourists seemed to go.
