The basement was the best equipped space, with a big living area and kitchen, two large fridges, two cooktops and sinks, plenty of dishes and cutlery, pots and pans, a drip coffee maker, toaster, and dishwasher. Wi-Fi was strongest down there and weaker on the ground floor and upstairs. There’s a small supermarket about five minutes away with most essentials, plus plenty of nearby restaurants. I stayed on the ground floor and didn’t go upstairs. The house has five or so bedrooms, most with private bathrooms. Mine was at the front, with a queen bed, desk, and ensuite bathroom with a shower. It was clean, and the large wooden shutters and quiet, effective air conditioning helped, since the windows faced the street so closely that passersby were only about three feet from the bed. I couldn’t leave them open at night. The house was rented for two weeks, and around halfway through, the linens and towels were changed. The nearest metro stations were about a 15-minute walk, along hilly sidewalks that weren’t very pedestrian- or roller-bag-friendly. Ubers were still cheap, around five euros to the metro.
