Hotel Acta the Clover

The rooftop bar is a nice extra, but the drinks are overpriced. We found better views and cheaper drinks in the old town, so don’t spend your money there. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was decent for what you’d expect at a hotel. But walking to Porto’s main areas took a while, especially after a full day out, so we ended up taking an Uber. Our room was basic and worn, and it didn’t feel well maintained.

The room had useful amenities, including a coffee machine, mini fridge, and safe. Ours was beside the housekeeping area, though, and we could hear staff talking and working in the morning. Breakfast was enjoyable, but the staff’s detached manner made it feel awkward to ask for things. The hotel has a modern design. Reception staff can come across as distant, which may feel unwelcoming. Check-in starts at 3 PM, and getting into a room earlier costs an extra €10. That can be a surprise if a room is already available. The sky lounge is a pleasant spot to relax and take photos, especially when the bar is open.

The receptionist was super helpful, and the rooftop was lovely. Our room was clean and nice, and breakfast was standard. It’s a lovely hotel, though a bit farther out, about a 20 minute walk from the river. We had a great stay!

Sara was especially kind and knew the area so well. Her suggestions for places to see and eat saved us time and made the stay more enjoyable. The staff overall were helpful, and the hotel was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, though it’s beginning to show a little age. The air conditioning was inconsistent during the night. The staff tried to help, but there seemed to be an underlying problem they couldn’t fully fix while we were there. The location is farther from the main attractions, so it means more walking, but it was quiet with very little foot traffic. Even with the AC issue, we had a good experience and would consider staying again.
