Hotel Jardins do Porto by Unlock Hotels

We had a nice week at Jardins do Porto, and it made a good base for exploring the city. The staff were really nice, the rooms beautifully decorated, and it was about a 15-minute walk to the river, with lots of good cafés and restaurants nearby. Our suite had a huge bath, which was lovely after a long day on foot. Some things didn't quite meet what we'd expect for the price and a place marketed as a luxury boutique hotel. The shower didn't drain properly, so we had to remove it and could see straight down the pipe. The toilet door was difficult to close. It either wouldn't shut properly or scraped loudly against the floor. The hot water was out on our first morning, then on the second night the power went off for four hours, leaving us without air conditioning. Housekeeping left a dirty rag in the room one day and their key another day. Each seemed small at the time, but they added up over the week. The vegan breakfast was also disappointing, especially for a hotel marketed as vegan. I'm vegetarian, so eggs and pastries were fine for me and kept me going all day. My partner is vegan and had only bread, spreads, cereal, and fruit, usually just grapes and kiwi. On a few mornings staff offered some vegan options, but they felt last minute, like a brownie or small, dry savory tarts. We appreciated the gesture, but it wasn't the breakfast he was hoping for. Given the hotel's vegan focus and how vegan-friendly Porto is, we'd expected something more substantial and suitable for him. The vegan restaurant serving dinner from the same kitchen was great. We only tried it on our last night and really enjoyed the meal. I had the teriyaki tofu (picture attached). There wasn't a huge selection, and they were out of a couple of dishes, but what we did have was great. We'd recommend staying here if the hotel fixes those few issues.
