Pur Oporto Boutique Hotel by Actahotels

The only drawback was the air conditioning, which wasn't very cold. Maybe it hadn't been switched on for summer yet, since we visited in May. Otherwise, a fantastic hotel just a short walk from the center of Porto, with a lovely clean room, very comfortable beds, and a fantastic breakfast.

The staff were kind, apologetic, and attentive whenever I raised a concern, and the hotel’s location is great. But I booked for the boutique feel and the setting, and the stay still fell short of what I expect from a four-star place, especially for comfort and consistency. Getting into the right room was a whole process. My key card failed, the first room hadn’t been cleaned, and the next one had single beds. I was eventually given a double room. The bathroom had visible wear and stains in the bath, and the shower temperature took ages to settle, swinging from very hot to cold. I also found two shampoos instead of shampoo and conditioner, with conditioner only in a tiny bottle, and there were no bathrobes. The walls are thin enough that I could hear neighbours coughing, flushing toilets, and general noise from their rooms. After my second night, an empty box of men’s XXL underwear appeared in my room. It wasn’t there when I left that morning. I assume it was a housekeeping mistake, but as a woman travelling alone I found it unsettling. The staff listened and acknowledged it when I told them. The hotel has potential, but kind service didn’t make up for the uneven cleanliness, comfort, and basic amenities at this price and rating. After this stay, I’d rather pay more for a real five-star experience.

I’ve lived in Porto for years and even had a flat opposite this hotel, so I knew the location. I recently stayed for four nights while my own flat was being renovated, and it was such a treat. The rooms, price, service, and location were all lovely. The staff were amazing and so helpful. I’m a travel writer, and I think this is a fantastic hotel. ❤️⭐️

I really enjoyed the calm feel here, and the staff were friendly. The rooms are modern, stylish, clean, and comfortable. It’s right in the heart of Porto, so cafés, restaurants, and the main sights are all easy to reach on foot. A lovely boutique hotel for a short city break, highly recommended.
