The breakfast was simple, with fresh bakery rolls, cheese, ham, and tea or coffee, and we enjoyed it. The staff were really helpful, and our room facing the square had a nice view. It’s a budget two-star place in a lively spot, with plenty of bars and places to eat nearby, so it can get noisy sometimes. Good value, and I’d happily stay again.

The family running the hotel were wonderful, and the location is great. Regina looked after me when I arrived in a bit of a state. Downtown traffic was a mess because they were building a subway, and with a rental car it took me quite a while to find the place. Everything was fine until checkout, when my card, which had worked everywhere else, wouldn’t go through. The staff spent hours trying to find a workaround, as did I. The bank couldn’t help, so I finally used a street ATM and paid an extra 11€ to get cash. Management refunded that fee and gave me a little extra discount too. It may be best to arrange payment directly with them and test your card early to make sure it works.

The staff were pleasant, and the location is very good, right by the party district. That does mean it gets loud. My room was tiny, old, dated, and dirty, with only the bare basics. The bathroom tiles weren’t clean, and there were little hairs on the wall.

The owners were so kind that the stay felt like being at a relative’s home. It’s an older, family run hotel, but clearly very well cared for and impeccably clean. Our room had basic amenities, a really comfortable bed, enough outlets for our electronics, WiFi, and a nice hot shower. It was also wonderfully quiet, with no road noise, and we slept like babies.
