We had dinner here and tried the cod and octopus, both excellent. A good local white wine went nicely with the food. The staff were attentive and the dishes delicious. I’d recommend this restaurant anytime.
We stayed from eight until eleven on a drizzly Porto evening, and Lóios Bistrô made a comfortable place to linger. The old stone and metal mesh give it a slightly industrial feel, softened by warm pendant lights, wood, and high-backed chairs. It felt intimate without being fussy. The stairs and mesh walls may not suit everyone, but the bathrooms were clean, and paying by cash or card was easy. We didn’t need a reservation on a changeable weekday night. João and Yasmin kept things moving smoothly without hovering, and shared a bit about Casa José Pedro from Trás-os-Montes and its rainbow label honoring the Caretas. The wine was a touch more acidic than the usual options, which worked well with the beef, and the cork was fresh when they poured it. The meal started with olives topped with cracked black pepper, peppered butter, and warm bread. It was a rustic, precise opener that had us tearing into the crust. The northern veal was tender, medium rare, and rich with jus, balanced by greens. The entrecôte à portuguesa had a light trace of charcoal smoke and came with potatoes that held their own. Hearty food, just right for a chilly evening. We also got the lemon tart, though it wasn’t on the menu. Its crisp base, smooth tart filling, and torched meringue made for a bright finish after all that meat. The bill felt fair for the food, pace, and relaxed evening. It’s a good fit for couples or friends looking for well-prepared meat and a cozy meal; the intimate space may feel snug for families. Lóios Bistrô doesn’t try to reinvent anything, but the northern ingredients and careful cooking made us want to come back.
We had a lovely evening, and the meal was well worth the money. The three courses included octopus, cod, salad, tiramisu, and pineapple, with wine to enjoy alongside it. The waiter and waitress were gorgeous and a brilliant delight. A must-stop.
Service was good, and it’s a nice place to visit, but I’m not sure I’d go back. The food felt overpriced for the portions and quality, and I think the menu could use some work. There’s no parking available.
We had a lovely lunch, with generous portions and excellent service. The octopus, salmon, and codfish were tasty and high quality. We’ll definitely come back.
