Legends' House by Sweet Porto

Legends House is well worth staying at when visiting Porto. Our room was large and very clean, and the location was convenient, across from a coffee shop, two blocks from Bento train station and Time Out market, and about five blocks from the river. Sophia clearly loves Porto and wants guests to enjoy it. She gave us tips on places to eat and things to see, and arranged for staff to help with our luggage when we left, since we're seniors. She also booked a taxi. Ubers only come to the top of the street, but taxi drivers park and come get you. George, who drives for Legends, helped with our bags, carried them into the train station, and refused a tip. Alec at the front desk was helpful too. He let us leave our bags in a closet while we went out for breakfast. We had an excellent four days, and the staff were very helpful.

We only stayed two nights, but really enjoyed it. The apartment was just the right size to relax and get some rest, right in the middle of a busy area full of shops and restaurants. The staff were kind, and breakfast at the door each morning was a lovely surprise: coffee, juice, rolls, ham, cheese, eggs, and spreads. We enjoyed it so much.

The apartment was clean, in a convenient location, had plenty of pillows and blankets, and was easy to cool. Still, we found the place sterile and cold, without much of the historic city's charm. It wasn't a terrible stay, but it wasn't great either. We were on the first floor, just off the elevator and above the restaurant. With the windows open, we heard clanking silverware, and we could easily hear people walking around upstairs at all hours. On our last morning, housekeeping started vacuuming above us around 8:30 am. That's not especially early, but it felt unnecessary. A garden light stayed on all night, making the room bright and hard to sleep in, especially with jet lag. The reception staff, especially the younger woman, barely looked at us when we came and went. No one explained what the attached restaurant was, or how to arrange the breakfast delivery I saw someone mention. There weren't any pamphlets in the room either. And there was coffee, but no tea.

Legends sweet Porto is a gem, and I'd highly recommend it. The hotel and apartment are right in the center, within easy walking distance of everywhere in the city center. Sofia at reception was extremely friendly and helpful. Her suggestions for local restaurants and sightseeing were spot on, and she made our time in Porto great.
