The location is good and the facilities acceptable, but that’s about all. During a discussion about the rooms, the host yelled in my face to shut up and inappropriately manhandled me. We were lied to about the room we’d booked and placed in a dorm, told our other choice was to forfeit our money and go elsewhere. We spent the stay worried we’d return to find our belongings thrown out. My son wanted a second level bunk, but the host refused and made him sleep on the third level even though the bed stayed vacant throughout. The host is a control freak and only speaks Portuguese, which he tends to yell in your face. I’ve seen that others have had the same bad experience.

I left early and asked for my money back, but the owner canceled my booking.com reservation as though I’d never shown up, so I can’t leave a review there. I’m still waiting to hear back about my complaint to booking.com. I’d booked a double bed but got a room with two pairs of small bunk beds. The owner said I’d have the room to myself, but soon I found out I was sharing it with an army of bed bugs. He told me there are no bed bugs in Portugal.

Cleanliness and customer service both fell short, as did the accommodation in every way I can think of. The owner seemed in a rush to collect payment, and basic amenities and cleanliness were lacking. It felt less like hospitality and more like a daylight scam to extract money, with little regard for customer satisfaction. Avoiding this place is about more than comfort, it’s about not being taken advantage of. I’d strongly advise people against staying unless they’re prepared for discomfort and disappointment.

The cellar was damp and musty, with no fresh air, just stale air. Someone built four walls in the middle of it and called it a bedroom. I got sick after one night and have had a lung infection for 10 days now. I left after one night instead of four, and he refused to refund me and blocked me. For the same price, I found a brand new two-room apartment. This is a big scammer who should be reported to the Porto tourist autorities and controlled, fined and shut down!
