The views from the upper levels, especially the 11th and 12th floors, are hard to believe, and the whole city opens up beneath you. For the price, I think it’s one of the most interesting places I’ve stayed in Porto. It may be an older hotel, perhaps built around 1972, and some facilities are old, but it’s very clean, even cleaner than many newer hotels, and has a lovely feel to it. The staff are kind, polite, and professional. There’s character everywhere: the all-wood lobby, the lighting, the bar, and even the elevators. The design is really distinctive, and the lobby is special. If old walls or small details don’t bother you, it’s a unique and enjoyable place to stay. We had a really interesting time here, especially for the price and the views over the city, which are hard to find elsewhere. The restaurant on the 13th floor is very good too. The staff there were extremely polite, and the food was very good. I definitely recommend experiencing it.

The location is incredible, and the breakfast restaurant and rooms are among the few places where you can see all of Porto. That gives this hotel a lot of potential, but the management doesn't seem to recognize it. The building is old, which is hard to change, but breakfast could be much better, from the food and coffee to having a friendly person there to make guests feel welcome. It wouldn't take much effort to make that a great experience. Charging a customer €2 to print a page also makes this gorgeous place seem poorly run. Put some work into these things and it could be great again.

The 14th floor was a whole scene of its own: I had dinner under a bold geometric wooden ceiling, with the city spread out below in a glittering 360-degree view of urban grit and gothic spires. Back in the room, the patterned bathroom tiles and dark curved wood on the vanity, along with the heavy velvet-textured curtains, made it feel like stepping into a 1960s film. Even the bedside radio console works, a little Space Age relic that seems straight out of a diplomat's suite in 1969. For one night I got to leave the drab, pixelated present behind. This towering yellow-tiled building is a Portuguese modernist landmark, a chic and unapologetic presence in Porto. It feels like a granite-clad portal into mid-century glamour, for someone who wants to live in an era rather than just have a bed. The place has a permanent aesthetic that makes trends seem beside the point.

The view was nice, the breakfast was excellent, and the staff were friendly. The price was decent too. What's not to like?

We stayed four nights in Sept 2024, during peak season, and the price was still reasonable. It's close to downtown, about 5 euro by cab, and we had an upper-floor triple panoramic room. The views were amazing, even from the bathroom, and we couldn't hear the club below. The rooms were clean, and the cleaning and kitchen staff were so sweet. When we mentioned my husband needed water each day for his medication, they brought us a thermos full instead of just a cup. I don't usually write reviews, but I thought the reviews here were so unfair. We arrived close to midnight and the concierge came out of the lobby to greet us, which felt like great service. The interior woodwork is spectacular and very mid century. They need better photos to show it off. The room furniture is classy and vintage too. It's a historic hotel, so of course it's a little old, and the only small inconvenience was having two outlets, neither near the bed. I'm so glad I didn't listen to the haters and booked it. It was a wonderful experience, 100 out of 10!
