Myosotis Oporto

It worked for one night, but I wouldn’t stay longer. We had a double room with a private shower, facing a quiet area rather than the street. The owner was very nice, and it was cheap, with supermarkets, pastelarias, restaurants, and a metro station nearby. There’s also private parking, which was really handy since we were travelling by car. The room had a lot of dust, the bed was hard and noisy, and the pillows were very small. I slept badly and woke up with a backache.

All the rooms face the courtyard, so it was very quiet despite the guesthouse being near a main road. It’s a simple place with a large car park in the inner courtyard. The metro station is two minutes away; the city centre takes about ten minutes by metro, and the main market is about the same by bus. The receptionist couldn’t speak English, but he was extremely kind and welcoming. On our last day, he offered to let us leave the car in the parking area for the rest of the day so we could visit the centre by metro. I’ll stay there again next time I visit Porto.

We felt so welcome and had a really relaxed stay. The staff went out of their way to understand and help us, even though we didn’t speak any Portuguese and they barely spoke English. They’ve invented hospitality.

The people there were really welcoming, and the room was good for the price. It was easy to park a car or motorbike, and there are plenty of cafes nearby. The tourist area is a bit of a distance away, but it’s actually quite central if you also want to see the harbor.
