Oca Ribeira do Porto Hotel

Our corner room had two lovely French windows looking out over the river, and the hotel is ideally placed for the waterfront, which gets very busy. We spent a long weekend at Oca Ribiera in September. The rooms are a bit dated, but clean and roomy enough for two on a short break. We skipped breakfast because we preferred going out. There’s no kettle in the room, which is a shame. Rooms were cleaned daily, and although it was noisy in the evening, things quieted down by 11, so it wasn’t a problem. The staff were nice and helpful, and I’d recommend the hotel.

The staff were very nice and accommodating, and the location was perfect. Our room was clean, a good size, and nice, and the bathroom was spacious too. I highly recommend staying here.

The location near the river is great, with lots of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was good, but the option to book ahead for a discount wasn’t explained clearly at the service desk. The rules changed on our second day when we tried to book in advance. Management needs to sort that out, since it left us with a bad feeling.

The location and the view were fantastic, but our stay was miserable in the cold. The room was tiny, and apparently the heating is switched off according to the date rather than the weather. It was cold and rainy while we were there. The lift also broke, so we had to carry our suitcases down four flights. Getting there with luggage is awkward too: Bolt and Uber can only leave you at the top of the hilly street, so you have to haul your bags down the cobblestones. Anyone with mobility issues should avoid this place.
