Oporto Home River Front

Hi all, The location is perfect, I can’t deny that. But we paid for a room with the river view shown in the ad, travelled from madrid to Porto, and ended up looking at walls from a back-end room. There’s a lot of false advertising, and people making decisions with your money without permission. If you’re okay with that, go ahead, guys. I’ll be approaching booking.com to get the false advertisement removed and will take this to social media.

We did like the kitchen, but the rest of our experience with Lovely Stay, the company that owns this hotel, was terrible. There was no hand soap, a dirty footprint on the bedspread, and brown sludge came up through the drain when we showered. The building was hard to find late at night, with no clear directions, and there were no employees there to help. We arrived around 11pm and had to stay the night. Before arrival, I’d tried several times to reach the hotel and heard nothing until the morning we were due to arrive. Then they said there was an outstanding payment and we wouldn’t get access until it was paid. If I hadn’t reached them, we would have been stranded in Porto. After we reported the problems by email the next morning, they didn’t reply for four hours. I called and they asked for pictures before they’d fix anything. They acted like they didn’t believe us instead of getting the third-party cleaning company to deal with problems that should have been sorted before we arrived. We no longer felt comfortable staying there, since we didn’t know what else was terribly unclean, so we moved to a hotel down the road. They agreed to refund half the nights, but nothing more.

The view from the apartment was amazing, and the welcome Porto wine was a nice touch. Check-in was easy, with someone there to meet us and hand over the key. Inside felt homey, and the small kitchen was convenient, though we didn’t cook because there were so many restaurants outside. The sofa needs cleaning. And the location, the location!

The accommodation was even more than I expected, with welcoming hospitality and lovely decor. The place itself is beautiful and majestic to explore. One of the best holidays I’ve ever had.
