Oporto Maison Sol

We wished we could've stayed longer. The apartment was cozy and just right for one or two people, with a comfortable bed and everything very clean. It's uphill near town and close to a lot. From check-in through checkout, the staff were friendly, organized, and helpful, which made the whole stay easy and welcoming.

The location is great, and the room was clean with a comfortable bed, though pretty basic. Getting in was stressful: I'd told the staff through hotels.com when we were arriving, but reception was closed after 6pm and nobody had sent instructions. Neither of the two numbers we tried worked. We eventually reached someone who gave us the entry code, but for a while we thought we'd have to find somewhere else at short notice. That was unnecessary holiday stress. We were on the ground floor and could hear everyone coming in through the front door. Worse, banging from the room above went on for an hour or two after 2am, and I was awake for half the night. They need to put down carpet or something.

It was a nice stay in a good location. I hadn't realized the head office was only 5 minutes from the hotel.

The apartment had been newly refurbished and was very comfortable, with a nice balcony. It was also well placed for getting to all the sites, and having a small supermarket on the street was really useful.
