Hotel Solar São Gabriel

The design looks very fancy, but it isn’t very practical. There’s nowhere to set your suitcase. Breakfast was fabulous, and the parking is secured.

The room was OK, but the decor looked tired and could use an upgrade. It was cleaned daily. We paid 149€ for three nights in a double room while the hotel was being refurbished, which explains the cheap price. Breakfast was adequate, though finding a seat was hard at busy times. On the second morning, I noticed the on/off button was missing from my electric toothbrush. The maid must have dropped it by accident. I told the manager, who said he’d look into it, but despite asking again I never heard anything more. On our second night, a large group must have been staying, because at 0230 we woke up to what sounded like a herd of elephants on the stairs.

Many thanks to everyone at Hotel Solar São Gabriel for my stay. The staff were so helpful and always did what they could. Thanks to the gentlemen at reception for answering all my questions about places to go and services to use, and especially to receptionist Paulo, who watched while I reversed into parking because I was a disaster with the rental car 😂. Thanks as well to the cleaners and the ladies serving breakfast. Igor was the man to contact with any questions or problems, and he’d sort things out. The room was decent compared with places I’ve seen elsewhere. I was told renovations had started, with the roof already underway and plans for the rooms next year. The toilet has already been refurbished. Breakfast was light but delicious for the price. You all deserve my 10********** rating. Sincerely, A. G. Labuhn

The location is perfect, just a few minutes from the center. The bathroom seems to have been refurbished relatively recently, but the room itself hasn’t had any renovation for a long time. If you have a low car, you might catch it as you enter the parking lot.
