I paid extra for a female-only dorm, but it wasn’t all female. I booked directly with the owner to save them commission, and things seemed fine until 11:15 p.m., when four men came into the room and took over the facilities. This was a fake sell. Don’t book here. I paid a premium for something I didn’t get.

I turned up without a booking for three nights, and they still found me a place. Breakfast costs extra, though you can get it at the bar on site, and the required Portugal tax adds €3 to the advertised rate. Bed linen is included. For the location and price, the value is excellent.

A little noise at night, and breakfast isn't included, which makes the price feel a bit high. Still, the rooms are good and the location near São Bento station is excellent if you're travelling by train. The staff member was very friendly.

The location is the one upside. Cleaning was poor, and the lighting was dim. In the women's dorm, the bathroom is a tiny cubicle inside the room with no privacy. There are just four outlets for six beds and no bedside lights. Reception is only open from 9 am to 6 pm.
