At 8 in the morning, workers began hammering in the garden right below our window, so after a terrible night we couldn't get any more sleep. Then an unknown woman came into our room shouting at us to leave immediately. She wouldn't listen when we explained our next booking didn't begin until 2 pm and we had nowhere to go. Her aggression was unacceptable to us, and to anyone. We'd arrived at midnight exhausted after a long journey, only to find a filthy room. Dust covered the lamp and artificial flowers, the air was stale, and opening the window brought in swarms of mosquitoes. My boyfriend spent four hours killing them, and we couldn't sleep. We also found cockroaches and huge spiders. We got only three hours of rest before a workday. The host refused to help when we contacted him. We had to go through the booking site to request cancellation. At first he refused, blaming Portugal's humid tropical climate, even though we'd lived in Portugal for a long time and never seen anything like this. After a lot of difficulty we got the booking canceled and had to find another hotel at the last minute, at twice the price. We lost time, money, peace of mind, and proper rest, and the whole experience ruined our mood. Don't stay here, even to save a few euros. The place was dirty, full of insects, and the hosts were rude. We would've been better off paying more for a clean room, decent service, and respectful treatment.
