Casa de Alfena

We loved visiting the Museu do Ouro and hearing the explanation from the architect, who taught us a lot about gold. The visit is well worth it. The house itself is beautiful, full of history, and the welcome was wonderful. D.Lurdes was especially attentive, and we felt right at home. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for peace and time in nature. We hope to return one day with more time, in summer, to enjoy the space and that magnificent pool.

We spent a weekend there as a group of 10 friends, and had everything we needed. It's a wonderful, carefully maintained old house, full of history. Sr. Manuel was a great host and took the time to show us the gold museum and tell us about his family's story. Definitely a place to come back to.

The house grew on me. At first I found it a little strange, but after a while I came to appreciate all its corners. It's centuries old, with modern comforts mixed in. The grounds are fantastic, like a botanical garden, with several plant species from Japan. The pool is a good size and well looked after, with a lovely setting. Check the photos. There are multiple kitchens, with plenty of cupboard space, and the kitchen is well equipped. Sr. Sérgio is always smiling and very attentive. D. Lurdes is genuinely kind and humble, and both were always available. A few things could be improved: the internet signal, though perhaps all that granite makes it hard to get a good one; the entrance gate is very narrow; and the pool table needs new felt, while the cues need some maintenance.

D Isabel and Sra D Lurdes are absolute sweethearts, like family. Their kindness comes above all else. Congratulations.
