The garden gave the kids plenty of room, and whenever something wasn't working, it was fixed within a day. We stayed with our family in July. The house has been renovated and is in very good shape under its new owner, and it's now called Villa Esperanca. We'd definitely come back.
The surroundings are lovely, and it's a nice house with a pool. You'll need a car for shopping and getting to the different places to visit. Walking means a lot of uphill and downhill, which is typical for Madeira.
