We had such a comfortable stay at Casa Santa. The house was spotless and had everything we needed, from cooking and dining equipment to toiletries, a washing machine, and extra blankets for chilly evenings. We loved ending the day by the fireplace, and we even ate dinner outside in the garden. The bed was comfy and nights were peaceful. The enclosed garden gave us privacy, and we could park right there. It was also well placed for Ponta Delgada, Sete Cidades, the tea plantation, and Ribeira Grande. The traditional decor and careful restoration made the place feel special. Francisco and Maria were attentive and easy to reach, and the WiFi worked well. We’d happily recommend it.

We had a really relaxing stay in this unusual, beautiful house. The garden is spacious and well cared for, with a brick barbecue, hammock, and loungers. Inside, the decor has a lot of character, and the owner made many of the pieces by hand. He says he’s something of an artist. The welcome from the father and son was warm without being overbearing, and they proudly showed us around. The house has all the comforts we needed. A couple of things to know: there’s a camera just outside the front door, which I don’t remember seeing mentioned on Booking.com when we booked, and the stairs up to the bedrooms are quite steep. Rabo de Peixe worked well for us, about a 15-minute drive from Ponta Delgada, away from the main city bustle.

The owners were very kind and helpful, and left us plenty of brochures with ideas for exploring the island. The garden is furnished, spacious, peaceful, and has a sea view. Casa Santa is a charming traditional stone house, fully independent, with room to park the car. Indoors there’s a large living room, kitchen, bathroom, and dressing room, while the bedrooms are up on the mezzanine. The stairs are a little awkward, and the damp you get in stone houses was noticeable. The owners took care to address it with a dehumidifier and air fresheners.
