The room had an amazing view, and the hotel itself is charming and cosy, with friendly staff and a great breakfast. It's in a medieval village founded in 1167, with an astonishing view and lovely buildings that the locals have preserved really well. The village is one of Portugal's 7 wonders in the “village” category. Great location.

We'd stay here again. Our room felt a little cold, but the air-con unit could blow warm air, and I imagine the old castle walls make insulation difficult. It didn't spoil the night. It's a simple, very cosy guest house with spectacular views and really friendly owners. Having breakfast brought to our room and private balcony was a lovely touch.

We loved the magnificent view of the village and castle from the hotel's deck, and the breakfast was yummy. Take all the options, that's my tip. This picturesque Portuguese medieval home has become a cosy hotel where you can feel the history alongside the tastefully designed rooms.

A peaceful place to rest, if that's what you're after. It's a very typical house right in the middle of the castle in Monsaraz. The people there are lovely, and breakfast comes with a breathtaking view.

The place was spotless, and the house is beautiful in a perfect location. What bothered me was the mattress protector. I could feel the plastic through the sheet and hear it swish whenever I turned over.
