Quinta do Scoto

We didn’t get much chance to meet the host, but she recommended a great restaurant in Sintra and booked it for us. The farm is a lovely base for visiting Sintra, with spacious grounds, a pool, and a playground. Our family room was large, with two double beds and a single, and breakfast was a nice continental spread.

I’ve been here twice now, and sitting by the pool in the sunshine is just magic. The Quinta has spacious grounds that make it easy to relax, and the suites are clean, comfortable, and roomy. I was travelling with a disabled family member, and the Sr. Miguel suite was perfectly equipped for their needs ♿️✅. Tony and Penny are superb hosts, welcoming, friendly, and always helpful. A car is really useful since most nearby amenities are some distance away, though you can manage without one. The location works really well for exploring Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais, and the coast. There are plenty of excellent restaurants nearby and farther afield, and the hosts will point you towards them. Breakfast is relaxed and hearty, a good start to the day. I can’t speak highly enough of the place and its wonderful owners.

Leonor, the manager, was incredibly gracious and helpful. The only thing that might have made our stay better would be a hot breakfast, but they don’t currently have a license to prepare hot meals. The restored early 20th-century villa was a joy to stay in, with lovely, spacious grounds and rooms that keep their rustic charm. Our two girls loved wandering through the flower-filled field, greeting the friendly neighborhood chicken, and petting the two horses. We’d booked based on photos and reviews, and it lived up to them. We drove to Pena Palace and the Moorish Castle in about 20 minutes. Sometimes the most amazing places are just a little out of the way, and this was one of them.

A charming, welcoming place for families. The rooms are spacious and peaceful, and the lovely grounds have a trampoline, playground, orchards, and a pool.
