It’s such a peaceful place to stay. I loved sitting under a tree with a book and a glass of local port. The 7 km walk downhill to Pinhao has fantastic views. Manuel is glad to tell you about the history and wine selection, and Daniela seems able to arrange anything. We had a great time and would recommend staying here.

We had a wonderful dinner with wine pairing, and every course was delicious and carefully put together. The wines were outstanding too. Breakfast the next morning was just as good, with fresh local food. We also tried several of their own wines during our stay, all excellent, with a lovely balance and a real sense of the region. Morgadio da Calçada is a peaceful, charming place to stay in the Douro. The hosts were friendly from the moment we arrived and made us feel at home. A great choice if you want to relax and enjoy the area.

The scenery was breathtaking and the food was amazing. We’d booked two nights but ended up adding another. Both Manel, father and son, were always available and so kind. It’s a rare little gem these days. Thanks for the hospitality!

Right in the center of lovely Provesende, this is a marvelous place to stay. The owner and staff take care of everything you need, and the rooms are lavishly equipped. I especially loved the spacious garden, with places to sit under an old nut tree among the vineyards. If dinner is offered during your stay, take it. You won’t be disappointed!

My friend and I had a delightful two days here in July. The room was comfortable and adequate, though a little tight. Everything else felt exceptional, from the grounds and setting to the hosts, meals and wine. We loved the quiet historic village of Provesende. One day we took a beautiful walk into Pinhão for port tasting. Dinner with the wine tasting was a highlight, so don’t miss it if you get the chance. Highly recommended.
