The views across the Douro and Pinhao valley are beautiful, and the furnishings feel really classy. Our host was kind and shared lots of useful local information. We were also welcomed with a complimentary glass of wine. Everything was just right.

The old farmhouse has been lovingly restored, and the garden is full of orange trees and beautiful plants. It feels like a home, with lots of character, rather than a holiday rental. From the terrace you can see the village and vineyards, and Pinhão and other villages nearby are easy to explore. Anabela was a fantastic host who stocked the fridge and welcomed us with delicious treats. This makes a great base for discovering the Douro Valley, with excellent restaurants and chances to taste wine and olive oil in the area. We were thrilled and will definitely return.

The house turned out to be a lovely surprise. It’s picturesque, true to local traditions, and has all the comforts we needed for a holiday. The little ones loved the pool and could stay in it for ages, while the adults relaxed in the beautiful garden. After dinner at one of the many good local restaurants, it was especially nice to sit and talk on the balcony with a good Douro wine. It’s sheltered from the wind and looks out to the lit-up church. In the morning, the mountain views with their rows of vines were like a painting. The host is very helpful, and the beds are comfortable, though small. Be mindful of guests’ height and weight, or six people may not be able to sleep comfortably. Other than that, five stars!

A welcome and atmosphere that feel like another time. Hours drift by slowly among the vines and fruit trees in the garden. You can cool off in the pool and enjoy the peace of a village that feels unlike any other. Ideal for a family holiday.
