Palheiros do Castelo

We had a lovely time eating outdoors in the pleasant patio, and even made a barbecue. The house was welcoming and well cared for, with a great location and a magnificent view of the castle. The kitchen was practical and had all the utensils we needed. The beds were comfortable, and every room had heating.

The area is beautiful and worth visiting, but the house was not worth the 85€ a night I paid. It's a gorgeous rustic place right in front of the castle, yet inside I noticed some maintenance problems, and the cleaning wasn't as thorough as I'd asked. Whenever we tried the stove, the power went out because of a short circuit. Breakfast costs 3€/px and wasn't worth it. They brought bread to the door, but the coffee and tea were made with capsules. There was no cheese or ham, we never got any fruit, and there was only one carton of milk. For three adults and one child staying three days, I found that too little. The bicycles we requested were broken, so the nice ride we'd planned fell through. The supposed selection of DVDs, books, and games is one to forget. Nobody told me when I booked that Wi-Fi had to be reserved, so we spent three days without it. There was also a tiny TV with only four channels.

Our stay was far too short, which was a shame. The interior was really pleasant, with traditional decor, and it still had all the essentials you need, even if you're coming from the city. They handled our request for a bed for our five-month-old baby wonderfully. The little one slept in a bed that matched the whole setting. We hope we can return for much longer.

The castle view is a real treat, and the location is excellent. Inside, the house is comfortable, romantic, and clean, with tasteful decor that respects the tradition. I'd recommend it for a getaway for two.
